Instructions for washing Appliques Posted on 26 Sep 16:48 , 0 comments
Decorative items---such as beads and sequins---can add flare and fun to your garments. These items are called appliques and come in a variety of colors and designs. Unfortunately, appliques can provide a difficult situation when it comes time to launder the garment. Items featuring appliques can become damaged if not washed properly. The appliques can get stuck on the inside of the washer and rip off from the garment.
- White pillowcase
- Mild laundry detergent
- White towels
Turn the garment inside out so the appliques are facing the inside.
Place the garments inside a white pillowcase. Secure the pillowcase closed. Washing the garments in a pillowcase will keep the appliques from catching on the inside of your washing machine.
Set your washing machine to the gentle cycle on a cool temperature. Add the appropriate amount of a mild laundry detergent to the water.
Submerge the pillowcase into the water. Close the washing machine lid and allow the washer to complete a full cycle.
Place several white towels on a flat surface out of direct sunlight and away from direct heat. Lay the garment out flat on top of the white towels and allow the item to dry.
